We have all heard of sports physiotherapists, and you don’t need to be an athlete to see one.  Sports physiotherapists are trained to treat injuries sustained by sports, but ultimately their expertise is around understanding the potential of the body’s mobility and function, and what is limiting the body from reaching its full potential due to weakness, injury, etc.

Executive coaching is the same.  While Executive Coaches are trained to understanding how organizations and leaders function right up to the C-level, we are not limited to working with only those leaders.  In fact, executive coaching is for any individual looking to invest in their career, using the support of someone who understands the potential of how organizations can function, and what is keeping you from achieving your ultimate career goals.

Your employer may cover executive coaching services under the organization’s professional development program.  Check with your manager or HR department to see if you can expense coaching sessions as part of your career growth and development – your success ultimately leads to increased success for your organization so it’s a win-win.

Take the time do to the exercises as suggested by your coach at the end of each session.  This will prepare you for the next discussions.

Also, take note of scenarios that you want to work through and discuss with your coach – real-life scenarios are the best skills practice opportunities!

Everything, literally.

At the onset of the coaching relationship, the discussion will be around your goals, hopes and desires.

How did you get there?

Each time you meet with your coach, the discussion will build off the previous session, always with the intention to move towards your ultimate goal.

All sessions are held via Zoom video conferencing.  All you need is a compatible device with a camera and a data connection to access Zoom.  You will need to download the Zoom app preceding your first session and your coach will send you login details prior to the session as well.

Sessions can also be held via phone if Zoom video conference is not an option.

How long are coaching sessions?2019-11-04T12:30:04-08:00

Each 1:1 coaching session is 60 minutes.  Every 4th session, the meeting will be extended to 90 minutes, where the final 30 minutes will be spent on reviewing progress and measuring progress.  This is an opportunity to reflect on what has worked to date, and how to adjust coaching sessions to achieve even more effective outcomes moving forward.

Each individual is unique in what they are attempting to accomplish and the velocity of which they can get there completely depends on the commitment to the program, the complexity of the goal(s) and if they can execute on the plan with minimal support.

How does executive coaching work?2019-11-04T12:42:15-08:00

Executive coaching is future-focused.  This means you work 1:1 with a coach to achieve the desired goal or set of goals.  Normally these goals are career-focused however, certainly life goals go hand in hand with career goals as well.

You will meet with your coach on a regular basis to discuss your goals.  The coach is trained to ask you thought-provoking questions that will dig deeper into existing barriers, limiting beliefs and habits that are getting in the way of achieving goals.  Further, the coach supports you to find solutions that will help accelerate goal achievement and success.

At the onset of the relationship, you will work with the coach to define what your goals are and your timeframe to achieve each goal.  Based on this conversation, you and your coach will decide how often you will meet with each other and what the measurable outcomes will be that you want to achieve at the conclusion of the program.

The coach may also suggest exercises, activities or areas to think about for your next session and it is your responsibility to take the time to work through those if you want to maximize results.
